grandma gets a lift

i wore this vintage dorothy perkins dress to malacca and uploaded the picture here (click) but i've shortened it into a little mini frock and i love it so much better! So if you've got a vintage dress that has a grandma-ish length you can try hemming it or take it to the tailors to hem it up.

ps. uniiko boutique does hemming services too for the vintage dresses if you want a particular piece shorted :)

shop update

this time round, the pieces that came in are all for comfort and seem like i ran through the wardrobes of thecobrasnake fashion muses and came back with some pieces from their wardrobe. from vintage-inspired pastel & lace dresses to headbands to a bowler's hat, visit uniiko boutique to check out the new stuff!

when they are young

isn't she just the cutest? i love her stripped trapeze top paired with skinny jeans and the loveliest black shoes adorned with ribbons. keeping her straight hair in place with a floral headband, she pulls off the parisian chic look to a tee. her mom has great taste! and that's one thing i can't wait to do if i have kids - dress them :) she was a little shy because her mom said she just woke up but later when i bumped into them again, a bright smile lit up her face.

the summer gaze

lately i've been very into the whole beach lifestyle mood. During one of my off days my boyfriend and i biked along the beach and took pit stops. For 2 hours, we rented bikes for $6 each and with the new pit stop bike stations,you can return ur bikes at any location. I also bought 2 more australian magazine titles - FOAM and CLEO which i love. Who's into beach culture too? Lol (more on my beach quest later...)

pretty in pink

i don't know why but i loath...yes, loath wearing red on chinese new year. maybe because seeing it everywhere kind of makes me dizzy. but A shared with me her plans to wear pink on chinese new year and i thought that was brilliant. yes, i was enlightened. pink! why didn't i think of that before? and especially baby pink which seems to be my latest fetish because i just brought in a pink tie dye top for the shop (will be up soon with the many other pink stuff). after all, the first day of chinese new year does fall on a valentine's day. perfect :)

thrift alert

chinese heritage tour

went to visit the chinese heritage museum some time back ($10 per person) and just had fun walking around the 3 storey museum. it's not super super interesting, because i guess i grew up learning this history so everything pretty much seemed familiar. but what i liked about the tour was in particular seeing the clothes that hang in their tiny room-houses. back then it seems clothes were made in pastels, earthy tones and browns. the mix of european and chinese dressing was really cool too. makes me want to search up those old chinese films. anyone got any idea what movies depict characters dressed in this western-eastern mixed style?
